Steve Bach & Ty Dennis playing together
The Steve Bach Band is playing on
Tuesday night, December 6 at La Ve Lee in Studio City, California.
Steve Bach was the keyboard player for the Robby Krieger Band until late 2002,
when Robby, Ray and Ian joined forces to play a pair of shows for the
Harley-Davidson 100th anniversary celebration ... and the rest is history.
Anyway, Ty Dennis was the drummer in that same Robby Krieger Band before he
replaced Stewart Copeland in The Doors of the 21st Century, which everyone knows
is now Riders On The Storm. Ty is going to be joining
the Steve Bach Band for this show, and rumor has it that a certain guitar player
who has played with both of those musicians may be stopping by to sit in with

Particle is covering Doors song in shows
Robby Krieger
joined the band Particle onstage at the Sunset House of Blues
3 years ago on their second anniversary show. Recent shows on their
CaliLicious tour have included a cover of 'Break On Through.'
Tomorrow night, October 8th, Particle returns to the Sunset House of Blues for
their 5-year anniversary show.

Robby on "The Wall" tribute CD <> Robby & Ray on Canadian TV
Robby Krieger
is one of the veteran rock artists who have teamed to
record a track-by-track tribute to Pink Floyd's "The Wall" according to a story
in today's Billboard.com. "Back Against The Wall" is due September 27th,
and also includes Ian Anderson and Rick Wakeman, Chris Squire, and Steve
Howe of Yes.

Robby and Ray gave an interview to a TV crew called Musique Plus (French Canadian music TV). This was filmed backstage before the show, and they spoke about D21C's new name and about the trial for John Densmore's lawsuit. Robby radio interview today
Robby Krieger
did a radio interview earlier today from Atlantic
City, New Jersey with Estero, Florida shock jock Joe Scott on radio
station
www.96krock.com I was unable to find a link to
listen to the interview, but the fan who reported this told me that Robby
mentioned Jim Morrison had stayed with him at his home for approximately three
months. Together they wrote The End (which was a love song in Jim's words
and the ending of a love affair), and that they also wrote a lot of L.A. Woman
together while Jim stayed there. (thanks, Dara)

new band name to be revealed tomorrow

Robby Krieger will reveal their new
name for the current incarnation of the
band tomorrow, August 5th, according to a story on
TheRockRadio.com..
This is in response to a Los Angeles court ruling on July
22nd
that they could no longer use the word "Doors" in the band name due to
objections by former drummer John Densmore
and the estate of Jim Morrison.
Robby reportedly said that "no matter what name he and Manzarek
choose, he's confident fans will still know who's playing: "

John won permanent injunction against The Doors of the 21st Century
John Densmore won a
permanent injunction today that is intended to prevent
Robby and Ray from touring as
The Doors of the 21st Century, according to
on-line news stories hitting cyberspace tonight. According to the
Superior Court website, the decision on this matter was scheduled to occur next
month on August 31st, so this is a surprise (to me). This news comes as
Robby, Ray, Ian and the band are touring
Canada headlining the Strange Days Festival. Is this the end, or
will there be appeals? I don't know. Will
The Doors of the 21st Century be allowed to
fulfill the shows that are already contracted and on-sale? I don't know
for certain, but I'd guess that probably, yes. I sure hope so. It
appears that the band can continue to tour under a different moniker.
I sure hope so. Stay tuned to see how this shakes out.

Robby the golfer <> Courtney Love??
Robby Krieger
participated in the annual Mark & Brian Celebrity Golf
Tournament back on April 30th. This is the event's second year at
Industry Hills, which has two courses being played at the same time.
Robby played on the "Brian course" and from the results posted on the
KLOS website, it looks
like Robby and his four teammates tied with Carlos Mencia for first place on
that course. Both teams finished with a score of 55, which was 18 under
par 73. Way to go!
According to several on-line stories that appeared today: Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger have approached Courtney Love to front The Doors, says Rolling Stone magazine. Apparently they miss the days of working with a bloated, unpredictable, self-destructive singer. This has got to be a joke. Gadzooks -- please say it isn't so, fellas.

in front of the Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard.

'Unlock The Doors' press release
DJ
Paul Edge and his 'Unlock The
Doors' club tour opens in
Seattle, Washington, on June 3rd. However, a press release issued on
Thursday states that scheduling conflicts will prevent
Robby, Ray and Ray's son, Pablo from attending, as previously planned
and announced. Ray and Pablo were scheduled to introduce their
reworked versions of Ship Of Fools
and You Make Me Real
as part of the event. Despite
their scheduling change that prevents them from attending in person, the band
members are enthused about and support this tour. In a statement, Ray said
that he and Pablo will try to hit one of the other dates on the tour, and Ray
also plans to participate in a phone interview with a Seattle radio station in
connection with the tour.

'Unlock The Doors' tour

a month or two ago, about a U.S. club tour with UK DJ Paul Edge called 'Unlock
The Doors.' The site went on to say that the DJ would be playing his
electro-dance remixes of The Doors' classic tunes, along with some other Doors
remixes that have been surfacing. The club tour is scheduled to
start in Seattle, Washington, on June 3rd. I've been advised that on that
date there will be an 'Unlock The Doors' launch party.
Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek and his son
Pablo are all scheduled to appear, along with The Doors manager Jeff Jampol.
Ray and Pablo will introduce their reworked

Robby & John appearance <> Robby & Easy Rider
Legendary Los
Angeles deejay Jim Ladd was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame
on Friday, May 6th in front of the Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard.
Jim Ladd is a huge fan and supporter of The Doors,
and all week leading up to the event, radio station 95.5 KLOS was announcing
that some members of The Doors would be in
attendance at the ceremony. I was far from home and unable to
attend, but I did get reports (and a photo) from others who attended.
Honorary Mayor Johnny Grant said it was the largest crowd ever, with many rock
stars and celebrities in attendance, including Robby
Krieger and John Densmore,
Jackson Browne, George Thorogood, Woody Harrelson, and Ed Begley Jr.
John spoke quite beautifully about the honoree at the podium, along with others.
After the ceremony when all were assembled for photos at the star with Jim Ladd,
John and Robby spoke privately for some time, and even posed for some photos of

Robby Krieger contributed original music to the "making of" documentary called 'Easy Rider: Shaking The Cage' that is part of the 35th Anniversary Deluxe Edition DVD of the classic '60s counter-culture film 'Easy Rider' which was released in 1999. This isn't brand new news, but I was not aware of it and it's worth mentioning! (thanks, Dennis)

U.K.'s
Mojo Magazine has a special limited issue out currently entitled
Psychedelic! This is an overall terrific issue, but there are
several Doors references contained within, as well. Under the
"Timeline 1965" caption (May) is a reference to
Robby and John forming a
short-lived band called The Psychedelic Rangers, the first known instance of a
rock group referring to itself as "psychedelic." There are numerous other
references to The Doors throughout the issue. 'Strange Days' is named as
one of the 40 greatest psychedelic albums of all time on page 125.
There's even a photo of Jefferson Airplane onstage at the Matrix in San
Francisco on page 33, which shows just how small and intimate that club was.

Phil Chen in forthcoming DVD
Robby Krieger and
Phil Chen were filmed earlier today in Hollywood as part of a DVD and
audio release titled 'Order of Distinction'
honoring legendary Jamaican guitarist Ernest Ranglin. Phil Chen is
actually the Music Supervisor on the project and played bass in all the
performances. I spent several hours at the filming and saw
performances by Elliot Easton of The Cars, and vocalist Alana Davis, in addition
to Robby's performance of a song called
'Straight Flush,' all with Phil on bass and Ernest Ranglin on guitar. The
project is scheduled for release in September 2005. Some photos will be
added tomorrow.

new Doors anthology coming
New York publishers
started bidding on Friday
(January 21) for a new Doors anthology
tentatively called "Break on Thru," which promises to be, in effect, the band's
autobiography. The book would take the form of a massive oral-history tome, with
its contents derived mostly from recorded conversations with drummer
John Densmore, keyboardist
Ray Manzarek and guitarist
Robbie Krieger, and augmented by excerpts
from interviews with late frontman Jim Morrison and comments from the
group's closest associates. It would also include rare and exclusive photos,
letters and memorabilia, as well as a CD/DVD featuring exclusive footage.
