December 9, 2010       Jim's pardon hearing on-line <> pardon is a fait accompli <> Kennealy's opinion <> 'You Make Me Real' book cover <> book cover artwork <> WYS opens in Spain
10:15 a.m.  Today is Jim Morrison's pardon hearing before the State of Florida's Clemency Board.  Kerry Humphreys of Doors Collectors Magazine, one of the forces behind the movement that comes to a head today, posted a link overnight whereby fans can watch the hearings live (or re-run throughout the day).  The Strange Days Newsletter has learned that this is case #29 on the docket, and that the link to watch on-line is: http://www.wfsu.org/tfc/schedules.php and scroll down to Web2.  (thanks, Kerry)

5:15 p.m.  It's over.  Jim Morrison received a pardon today from the State of Florida Clemency Board for the indecent exposure conviction stemming from his behavior at the band's March 1, 1969 performance at the Dinner Key Auditorium in Miami. Congratulations to those who have been campaigning for this for more than a decade.  Now, footnotes and addendums will be added to the histories that abound.  Hopefully after a flurry of media stories wrapping this saga up, this media blitz will finally be over.  I learned from an east coast sister that John Densmore was briefly interviewed on tonight's NBC Evening News with Brian Williams.

5:15 p.m.  Patricia Kennealy has weighed in on the issue of the Morrison pardon.  Her preference would be to see the conviction expunged or the verdict overturned as fraud instead of being pardoned.  Read her statement at:  http://www.bostonherald.com/news/national/south/view.bg?articleid=1302026&srvc=rss.

5:15 p.m.  Author Rui Silva has sent me a link for the cover art of 'You Make Me Real' ... check that out here.  (thanks, Rui)

5:15 p.m.  'When You're Strange' opens in Spain tomorrow, Friday, December 10.  The distributor is http://www.avalonproductions.es/strange/.  In conjunction with the film's release there, the Spanish public radio and television (RTVE) has made a collection of radio and t.v. programs about the band issued in Spain between 1979 and 2010.  The link for that is: http://www.rtve.es/noticias/especial-thedoors/, and includes a16-minute interview with Frank and Kathy Lisciandro issued in 1989, in which they discuss Morrison and his poetry with images of HWY: http://www.rtve.es/mediateca/videos/20101122/fm-2-reportaje-sobre-the-doors-declaraciones-frank-lisciandro/937178.shtml.  (thanks, Elisa)
