ANGELO BARBERA

~ Have you been hearing and reading this name a lot lately?

~ Have you wondered who he is, and how he got lucky enough to be the bass player onstage with Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, & Ian Astbury?

Angelo Barbera grew up in southern California, the youngest of four children. He has two sisters and one brother, and started playing bass when he was 12 years old.

Angelo has played with Martha Davis and The Motels, Red Square Black, Lita Ford, Perfect Stranger, and many others.  He joined the Robby Krieger Band in 2000 as the bass player.  He also worked on the "What’s Going On" tribute in 2001.

In September 2000 Angelo was onstage with The Doors when they recorded VH-1 Storytellers. It was first broadcast in November of that year, and gets re-run regularly on VH-1. That program is available on video and DVD, as well as CD.

Angelo is one busy guy!   Being in the Robby Krieger Band meant going out on tour several times a year.  Robby regularly featured Angelo singing lead vocals on Changeling and Gloria.  If and when the Robby Krieger Band resumes touring, hopefully we can look forward to more of Angelo’s funky, gutsy vocals when he is onstage with that band.

Beginning in summer of 2002, Angelo became involved with the rehearsals and shows that The Doors played in September at the L.A. House of Blues, and then in Fontana, CA and Ontario, Canada for the Harley-Davidson Open Road Tour to celebrate their 100th anniversary.   That led into additional show dates in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Texas, NYC, Boston, Philly, Connecticut, and Florida.  Many more tour dates followed for the balance of 2003, and 2004 is pretty busy so far, too.

Angelo also plays in another band, I-94 (formerly Bottlefly).   Check that band site at:

When Angelo has free time, he likes to relax with video games, working on his car, skateboarding, and catching up with friends.  He enjoys hockey and basketball, classic old movies and gangster movies.

His musical talents allow him to also play guitar, piano, and drums as well.
