THE DOORS 21ST
CENTURY JULY 26 2003 TUSCON AZ
by TIM NELSON.
Here I am again and I still cannot believe the DOORS are back together. It's 7:45 and we are walking from the casino as an AZ monsoon storm is making an already eerie evening more intense. We find our way to our seats [3rd row center] and around 8:30 pm WITHOUT any intro, TY, ANGELO, RAY & ROBBIE walk on stage. To my delight [w/monsoon thunder & lightning all around] the beginning of RIDERS fills the evening open venue sky. IAN appears on stage [a huge poster of JIM in the background] and the magical evening begins.
RIDERS ON THE STORM was a perfect choice to begin the show. NO other show had begun with RIDERS. The band then broke into a rowdy ROADHOUSE BLUES and the party began. IAN seems to be more comfortable and fitting nicely into his role as lead singer of the THE DOORS of THE 21st CENTURY. The band was tight and did not miss a beat!!!
After [2] encores, LIGHT MY FIRE & PEACE FROG, we all screamed for more. The band returned for ONE more, SOUL KITCHEN. Security was tight and after a few not so successful attempts, I made it on stage and DANCED WITH THE DOORS. A wonderful way to end this magical night.
This was my 4th show and I hope to see
some of you in September at the San Diego Street Scene.

p.s. We met a couple before the
show [Crystal & Mark] they were engaged during the concert [I think LA WOMAN],
but during the Meet & Greet after party they were able to 'do it all over again'
in front of the entire band. What a moment that must have been. THE
DOORS ARE COOL!!!!
