‘Tao Soup’
Scott Kelman is a sort of seiko shihan, or worldly master, of experimental theater. His small troupe, the Drunken Monkeys of Brooklyn Bay, won raves for this ongoing work during a run in Los Angeles last month.
Don’t be intimidated by Kelman’s avant-garde pedigree; the best thing about the rascally New Yorker’s work is that it’s artful, funny and, most crucially, accessible. And here’s an interesting bonus: Former Doors drummer John Densmore, an old Kelman buddy from L.A., sits in for this weekend’s performances.
Those willing to brave the circuitous path to the tiny Southeast space — call for directions — will be rewarded.
