June 9, 2008       Robby & Camp Freddy
Robby Krieger was
one of the special guests
with Camp Freddy at The Roxy on May 29th, as previously reported.  A story on Blabbermouth details the entire set list, all the guests, and includes a bunch of YouTube videos of the show.  When you scroll down the story, you can see one of Robby and Billy Idol, et al performing L.A. Woman.  Go to: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=98135   (thanks, David my son)

May 30, 2008        Robby at the Roxy <> more Robby at the Roxy
Robby Krieger
stole the show
(in my humble opinion) at last night's Camp Freddy performance at the Roxy on the Sunset Strip.  Seriously, these are always star-studded ensembles starting with the members of Camp Freddy themselves, who are then joined onstage by a never-ending line-up of guest performers for some terrific cover tunes.  Some of last night's guests included Mark McGrath, Juliette Lewis, Naveen Andrews (Sayid on 'Lost'), and Billy Duffy.  When Robby was (finally) introduced, it was as 'the man who practically invented the Sunset Strip scene'. The audience response was resounding:  appreciative, thrilled, and excited.  He is literally revered!  Robby took care of some hand-slapping at the very front of the stage and then was joined by Train front man Pat Monahan, who sang a cover of Led Zep's "Whole Lotta Love."  Pat must be a huge Led Zep fan because he has been covering "Ramble On" in concert for many years, and even released it as a single.  Anyway ... when that song ended, Pat left and out came Billy Idol and Steve Stevens for, yes of course:  "L.A. Woman."   I was disappointed that Robby did not make it back onstage for the finale, but it was mayhem on stage at that point.  There were probably no amps left because most of the night's performers were back out there.  To learn more about Camp Freddy and check out their pix and reviews, go to:  campfreddy.net    The band was in NYC the night before so it'll probably take them a few days to get it updated with the guests and the set list.

Robby's appearance last night at the Roxy, and the entire event in general including all the special guests, is covered in much more detail in a press release today than I could have relayed.  To read the press release, go to:  http://msopr.com/?q=node/3916  (thanks, George)

May 22, 2008      another Robby guest appearance
Robby Krieger makes
another guest appearance
with Camp Freddy on Thursday, May 29th at The Roxy on the fabulous Sunset Strip.  This is Camp Freddy's last show in a month-long residency at that club every Thursday night in May.  Camp Freddy shows are famous for all the unannounced guest artists who join them onstage, and Robby has had that honor on many prior occasions.  For more info about Camp Freddy, go to:  www.campfreddy.net

May 21, 2008      correction on Robby's guest appearance
A correction to
the story about
Robby Krieger's guest appearance for the final taping of Planet Green's Battleground Earth at L.A.'s Greek Theatre:  I previously reported this would occur on June 4th, but I stand corrected by a very credible source!  The correct date is Wednesday, May 28th.  Proceeds from this event will benefit the fund created to restore areas destroyed by recent wildfires in and around Griffith Park.  For more info about this, go to:  http://www.greektheatrela.com/calendar/event_info.asp?ID=1311

May 5, 2008     Robby and School of Rock
Robby Krieger was at The Mint in Los Angeles
on Saturday night for the Hollywood School of Rock show.  Apparently each show is dedicated to a different band, and this show was about The Doors.  I wish I had known about it!  Robby even got onstage and played a few songs with them.  Robby's friend and frequent collaborator Arthur Barrow is involved in this program.  To see a YouTube video of Robby and the young musicians jamming on Roadhouse Blues, go to:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRNl8a8nVhs   It's funny watching the young vocalist singing that she woke up this morning and got herself a beer!  Another fun video from that show is Light My Fire at:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A855NhxqGOQ&feature=related  (thanks, Howard)

March 27, 2008    Robby in indy film
Robby Krieger will
be included in an
independent film called "Turn It Up!" The filmmaker's name is Bob Radler, and he writes about this project on Macworld.com.  Radler describes it as “an examination of the emotional connection between human beings and guitars — on both personal and societal levels."  It will go the film festival route and then maybe to a theatrical release and to DVD.  Read the full story at:  http://www.macworld.com/article/132711/2008/03/fcpmovies.html

March 16, 2008    Robby & Particle in LA
Robby Krieger joined Particle again on
Friday night at the El Rey in Los Angeles. This time the show started with a Particle song that only last 15 minutes (Thursday night's opener went on for 25 minutes!) ... and then Robby and singer Adam Iscove hit the stage and the real show began.  The set list was similar but not identical to the Anaheim House of Blues:  L.A. Woman, Peace Frog, Roadhouse Blues, Break On Through, Riders On The Storm, new addition Who Do You Love, new addition Not To Touch The Earth, and Light My Fire.  There were about 4 Particle songs interspersed and during one of them, I swear I heard Robby playing some Away In India.  They returned for an encore of  Soul Kitchen, and just like the night before, the band returned for a second encore and performed The End.  It was a late night with the show ending at 1:00 a.m.

============================================================

March 14, 2008     Robby on Rockline <> Robby and Particle:  GO! <> Particle's guest singer
I don't know how my Doors radar
missed this one, but Robby was the guest on 'Rockline' on Wednesday night.  All is not lost, as it can be listened to on 'Rockline Replay' in five segments.  To listen, go to:  http://www.rocklineradio.com/  and click on Rockline Replay ...  I'm listening to the first segment right now, where they are talking about the new 'Live In Pittsburgh' release and playing songs from it ... which, incidentally, is a GREAT show which was just released!

Robby Krieger joined Particle last night (Thursday) at Anaheim's House of Blues.  I have seen Particle shows before in the quest of seeing Robby join them for a few songs ... but this show was VERY different and I am so glad that I was there (thanks, Larry!)  After Particle began the show with one of their overly-long jam songs, Robby was introduced along with a singer named Adam something.  The singer was actually quite good, so I apologize for not catching his last name.  They launched into L.A. Woman, followed by Peace Frog, Roadhouse Blues, Break On Through, Riders On The Storm, and Light My Fire, with 2 or 3 more Particle songs interspersed.  They returned for an encore of  Soul Kitchen.  Much to our astonished delight, they returned for a second encore and performed The End ... yes, they sure did!  Although The Doors of the 21st Century / D21C / Riders On The Storm do not perform that song in concert, the Robby Krieger Band always did ... and frankly, this show felt more like a Robby Krieger show with the members of Particle as his backing band, than it did a Particle show with Robby as their guest guitarist.  Make no mistake, all the members of Particle are outstanding musicians, but I cannot take too much of their music on its own .... but as a backing band for Robby, that is a horse of a different color!  It seemed to me that most of the show attendees were there because of Robby, whose appearances with Particle locally have been heavily promoted.  And before I forget, I want to give a shout-out to the three young guys I met in the parking lot and again at the front of the stage ... enthusiastic fans who were there because of Robby, just like Beverly and I were!  Robby and Particle have two more shows scheduled:  tonight (Friday) at the El Rey in Los Angeles, and then the San Diego House of Blues on Saturday.  If you are in southern California and were going to miss these shows because Particle is supposedly the headliner, I urge you to re-consider and go!!!!!  I'm even trying to change my own Friday night concert plans to go see Robby and Particle again!

Adam Iscove is the name of the singer who was on stage last night at the Anaheim House of Blues, along with Robby and Particle.  Adam is the vocalist for an L.A. area band called Allrise.  He will be onstage with Robby and Particle again tonight at the El Rey in Los Angeles and tomorrow night at the San Diego House of Blues.

February 12, 2008   Robby guested at club
Robby Krieger was an unannounced guest Saturday night February 9th in Beverly Hills.  The event was at the Aqua Lounge and featured live music by Evan Marshall Band.  You may remember Evan as being the vocalist who performed with Robby at Uli Jon Roth shows in 2006 and 2007.  Riders On The Storm drum tech Owen Goldman was playing drums at the event.  To see a video of Robby jamming on Roadhouse Blues, go to:  http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=255294091&blogID=357033578    (thanks, Owen)

October 24, 2007   Robby at Berklee <> Robby on mag list
Robby Krieger's visit last week to Boston's Berklee School of Music got a write-up with nice things to say about Robby's appearance.  However, the obsolete 5-year old photo that accompanies the story is beyond absurd.  Read it at:   http://thephoenix.com/article_ektid49788.aspx

October 21, 2007   contest on Robby's website
RobbyKrieger.com has just added a new contest to the website.  There are 24 cover versions of 'Light My Fire'.  All you need to do is correctly identify the artist or band that covered each of those 24 LMF versions.  Winners will be randomly picked from all entries, and the prizes that will be awarded are paintings that were done by Robby's mom.  Where else are you going to get one of those?  This is a very challenging contest ...  I was personally deflated at how many I do not recognize!  For complete details, go to:  http://robbykrieger.com/contest/index.html

October 5, 2007   Robby in Boston appearance <> Monterey, CA pix
Robby Krieger will be at Boston's Berklee Performance Center at the Berklee College of Music on Monday, October 15.  This event is re-scheduled from a July appearance, and is free and open to the public.  Here is a blurb about what the attendees can expect, which includes a musical set with a local band.

The Doors' legendary guitarist and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Robby Krieger will give an exclusive interview and performance. The event is free and open to the public. Krieger will be interviewed by five student DJs from the BIRN (Berklee Internet Radio Network) for 90 minutes, taking questions from the audience, then he will perform a 30-minute set with Morrison Crossing, an all-Berklee-student band. Seating is first come, first served. The interview/performance will be put in heavy rotation on the BIRN following the event.

“This Doors newest release establishes a deep connection to the Boston music scene. We are honored that they’ve decided to fly Robby here just to do this exclusive interview with Berklee’s internet radio station. The Doors were always about innovation and experimentation, and that defines so much of what Berklee and the BIRN are about,” says Stephen Croes, BIRN founder and dean of Berklee’s Music Technology Division.

Robby Krieger wrote some of the Doors' best-known songs, including "Light My Fire," "Love Me Two Times," "Touch Me," and "Love Her Madly." The Doors, Rhino, and Bright Midnight Archives recently released the Doors’ three-disc set Live in Boston, capturing the band’s first stop on their final tour, at the Boston Arena, April 10, 1970. The album is available at
rhino.com and thedoors.com(thanks, George and J)

Riders On The Storm played Monterey, California in late July.  A fan has sent along photos from that show to share. go here  (thanks, Chad)

September 10, 2007   Robby & Lucinda <> Robby at Berklee <> 'Experience Hendrix' news
Robby Krieger was one of the guest performers last night at the Lucinda Williams show at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles.  This was the fourth of five consecutive nights that Lucinda performed there.  The format was to do the songs from one of her albums in its entirety, take a break, and then return for more music and guests.  There were several other guests who joined her for one or two numbers during the second half, but she saved the best for last!  During the last number before the encore, Lucinda tossed a little bit of "ride the snake" and "riders on the storm" into the lyrics of a song she was doing.  In the encore, Lucinda said what an honor it was to play with her heroes, that this was a "pivotal moment" in her life, and that she was inspired by Robby and The Doors ... and then introduced Robby to resounding affirmation from the audience.  They performed "Riders On The Storm" and then a Lucinda song called "Unsuffer Me."  They had also rehearsed at least one more song, but the lengthy show ran out of time due to the 12:30 a.m. curfew on Sunday nights.

Robby was scheduled to spend several hours being interviewed, answering questions and playing songs from the Live In Boston '70 CD set back in July at Boston's Berklee College of Music, courtesy of Berklee Internet Radio Network (BIRN).  It was to be a free event and open to the public, to coincide with the release of that new music from Bright Midnight Archives.  Robby had to postpone the appearance when he was sidelined by a root canal.  That appearance has now been re-scheduled for Monday, October 15th.  I do not see it on the Berklee website yet, but it's going to happen.

More Robby news:  the "Experience Hendrix" tribute concerts which Robby will participate in, have added a second night at NYC's Beacon Theater on Sunday, October 21.  The first night at the Beacon Theater is already sold out.  That's the good news.  The bad news is that Robby will not be participating in the show at Casino Ballroom in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire on October 17th.

August 27, 2007   Robby at Uli Jon Roth show
Robby Krieger's appearance on Saturday night at the Uli Jon Roth & Friends Sky Academy concert was apparently a killer, and I could kick myself for missing it.  According to a review from fan Brad, Robby played four songs:  Roadhouse Blues, Riders On The Storm, L.A. Woman, and Light My Fire.  Evan Marshall, who sang with Robby at last year's show, sang the first two songs ... and then Robby brought out Brett Scallions to jam on the last two songs.  With three of those songs being roughly 10-minute jams, the audience got a 30-minute performance from Robby!  To read Brad's detailed review, go to:  http://rots.informe.com/forum/robbie-krieger-uli-jon-roth-review-mini-rots-performance-dt48.html    There is also a story about the show on Blabbermouth at:  http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=79588   (thanks, Brad)

August 26, 2007   Robby guest at Uli Jon Roth show <> Robby & 'Experience Hendrix' tour
Robby Krieger was scheduled to be "guest of honour" on Saturday at the second of two nights of Uli Jon Roth & Friends Sky Academy Concerts at the Musician's Institute in Hollywood.  Last year Robby was also a guest musician at one of these shows.  see 2006 photos  I have not gotten any reports on the show nor any photos to share yet, but I'm hopeful someone will come to the rescue on that!  I would have been there myself if I did not already have a rock & roll weekend scheduled elsewhere.

A few days ago I reported about Robby's involvement in the "Experience Hendrix" tribute to Jimi at NYC's Beacon Theater in October.  According to a press release on emedia.com, this is actually a 5-city tour.  So far, the east coast is getting all this tour action, so I hope it heads west.  As far as I know, Robby will be performing at all of the announced dates.  The "Experience Hendrix" tickets went on sale yesterday for the following shows:  October 16, Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.;  October 17, Beacon Theater in NYC; October 18, Casino Ballroom in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire; October 19, Trump Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey; and October 20, Palace Theater in Waterbury, CT.   read press release    Also see more info at this site:   http://www.experiencehendrixtour.com/press_20070823.html  (thanks, Matt)

Yesterday I reported that Robby Krieger played two songs on Saturday night with a band called Infected Mushroom at a Hollywood club called Vanguard.  I found that discussed on the band's website forum.  It seems that he joined the band on two of their own songs, so there was no Doors music played in the set.

May 25, 2007    Robby’s painted guitar for charity
9-foot tall Fender guitars are all over the city of Cleveland, with several dozen of them placed around the front of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum.  They were painted, sculpted and otherwise cleverly adorned by artists and celebrities.  This is an annual event with the guitars displayed from June to November, at which time they are auctioned off to benefit the United Way and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum’s education fund.  Robby Krieger participated in this event with a yellow guitar decorated with polka dots and a cat’s face and whiskers.  To see a photo of Robby’s untitled guitar, go here.  To read more about Guitarmania and to see this year’s and previous guitars, go to:  http://www.cleveland.com/guitarmania/

March 31, 2007     Walk of Fame video on YouTube <> Robby on BBC Scotland <> Robby on Dutch radio <> Robby and Ray on Dutch TV
The Doors got their star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame a month ago on February 28th.  Sure, that's old news, but a fan has sent me the link to a 17:24 video of the ceremony on YouTube.   This is the longest video I have seen so far of the event, and you can see how downright ebullient Robby was, in particular.  Check it out at:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqG8H5asL90   (thanks, Gene)

Robby Krieger was on BBC Scotland today on the Janice Forsyth Show discussing the 40th anniversary.  I am afraid it may already be over; however, there is a link that allows listeners to replay the broadcasts at:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/radioscotland/view/show.shtml?listen_again   (thanks, Frank)

Robby Krieger was interviewed on Dutch radio station 3FM last Wednesday in a show called “Arbeidsvitaminen” (in English: working vitamins) about The Doors and the new box set that recently came out.  The Robby interview starts at 2 hours, 12 minutes and 50 seconds into the show. You only have to forward it to that time in Windows Media Player.  The show is in Dutch, but the interview is totally in English without someone translating in between questions and answers.  The link is: http://cgi.omroep.nl/cgi-bin/streams?/radio3/avro/avroarbeidsvitaminen/woensdag-09.wma   The interview lasts around 5 minutes and is followed by Light My Fire.   The fan who sent it does not know how long the show will be available online, but he thinks it will for about a week at least.  The interview follows the current hit by the Scissor Sisters.  (thanks, Joey)

Robby and Ray both appeared on a Dutch television show on Friday, March 23rd.   An interview clip can be found on this link:  http://dewerelddraaitdoor.vara.nl/nieuws_media.php?id=701  (thanks, Mark)

March 9, 2007     Robby Krieger Band video

Robby Krieger Band played at the Whisky a Go Go as part of their 35th anniversary shows in February 1999, along with Iron Butterfly, Moby Grape, Grass Roots, and many other bands.  This video on TV4U is no mere quick clip, this is the performance ... so size it to full screen and crank up the volume, get comfortable, kick back and enjoy it!  It includes Love Her Madly, Alabama Song, Back Door Man, Five To One, Snake Oil from Robby's solo CD 'Cinematix', Riders On The Storm, and then John Densmore joined the band for Love Me Two Times, Spanish Caravan, and Light My Fire.  The line-up included Robby's son Waylon as well as Berry Oakley Jr., and Robby's former bandmate Dale Alexander.  Marco Moir can be seen scampering around onstage, too.  After sitting through a brief commercial, Robby's performance can be seen at:  http://tv4u.com/show-video.asp?cid=15&sid=285&vid=601&t=Robby%20Krieger%20Concert&cat=Rock%20&%20RollI am told that all proceeds of the video went to a charity called The Caring Place, a center for cancer survivors and their families.  (thanks, Tom)

February 17, 2007    Robby guest appearance <> Robby & Evan Marshall pix

Robby Krieger made an unannounced guest appearance last night at Guy's North in Studio City, California where the Evan Marshall Band was playing.  You may remember Evan's name from his stint as the vocalist when Robby played three Doors songs last May at the Uli Jon Roth & Friends concert on UCLA Campus.  Anyway, Robby showed up and played Break On Through, Love Me Two Times, Peace Frog, Roadhouse Blues, Touch Me, Riders On The Storm, and L.A. Woman.  Robby's golfing buddy Tim Petrovich sat in and sang Back Door Man.  Even Robby's son Waylon was there, and he joined in on guitar on Roadhouse Blues.  Dave Bernal from the band "Analog In" joined in on harmonica.  Dave Waterbury, who played bass at that Uli Jon Roth show, played on Riders and L.A. Woman.   Phil Chen played the Booker T and the MG's version of Light My Fire on guitar after Robby finished.  Later on, Waylon returned and did Stevie Ray Vaughn's "Cold Shot" with the band.  Riders on the Storm drum tech Owen Goldman drums with this band, and was also in this whole exciting mix.  Check back later for photos of the show, and check out the Evan Marshall Band at:  http://www.myspace.com/evanmarshallband

As reported earlier today, Robby made a guest appearance last night at a club where the Evan Marshall Band was performing, and brought along his son Waylon and golfing buddy Tim Petrovich.  I have now added some photos from the performance.  see photos   (thanks, Evan)

February 11, 2007    last night's pre-Grammy ceremony

Robby Krieger was quoted in a brief on-line story this morning about last night's pre-Grammy ceremony where the band received their well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award from the US Recording Academy!  Robby was quoted as saying that Jim Morrison would have been "very honoured".  He added, "People think he was anti-establishment, but in reality he wanted to be bigger than the BEATLES."   To see full (but brief story) go to:  http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/article/grammy%20honours%20for%20the%20doors%20the%20grateful%20dead%20and%20baez_1021640    Don't miss tonight's big Grammy presentation on CBS.  See the February 9th news story below for more on that!   Another on-line story from Yahoo News went on to say that Robby was the sole member to appear at the ceremony at Wilshire Ebell Theater in Los Angeles, although family members of late singer Jim Morrison were on hand.  John Densmore, the band's drummer, thanked the academy in a videotaped message, during which he recited Morrison's "American Prayer" poem.  "Death makes angels of us all and gives us wings," Densmore said in reciting the poem.  That full story can be read at:  http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070211/music_nm/grammys_lifetime_dc_1

December 7, 2006      'The Doors' movie screening

Oliver Stone, Val Kilmer and Kyle MacLachlan were on hand last night for the screening of "The Doors" at the Mann's Chinese 6 Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.  Kathleen Quinlan was also supposed to appear but had to cancel due to a personal matter.  Attendees got small black & white Doors buttons/badges, and there were also free Tribaljazz postcards and posters on the check-in table.  As I stood in line waiting to get admitted into the theater, I saw Robby walk through the lobby accompanied by The Doors management Jeff Jampol and Cory Lashever.  Robby was there before the screening started and was in the 'green room' doing press.  I was escorted there before the screening began so I could see Robby (thank you, Gordon!).   Kyle was in there relaxing, as well.   The 7:30 screening was postponed about 30 minutes due to Val Kilmer's late arrival due to traffic.  The premiere of Leonardo DiCaprio's "Blood Diamond" movie next door at Graumanns Chinese Theater had Hollywood Boulevard traffic in the vicinity tangled more than usual.   Robby left when it was nearing time for the event to begin.   Inside the theater, Gordon Meyer from Storymakers Studio introduced Val and Kyle, who then went up into the audience to watch the movie with the rest of us.  The screening was the original theater release, and did not contain any of the deleted scenes or extras that are part of the 15th Anniversary Edition DVD that gets released next Tuesday, December 12th.  Historical inaccuracies aside, it was great to see Val's performance on a big screen and to hear the music on that kind of sound system.  I sat with friends Larry, Beverly, Linda, and David my son ... and we all applauded when we saw Robby's quick walk-through in a scene that so many people have never even noticed.  When the screening ended, John Densmore and Oliver Stone were introduced and emerged from the rear of the audience.  They joined Val and Kyle at the front for questions from Gordon Meyer.  Gordon also asked questions that had been turned in on cards passed out to audience members before the movie began;  the people whose questions were used were given a Doors Greatest Hits CD.  Some of the discussions dealt with Oliver's working methods, filming of the live concert sequences, Val's inhabiting of the role and the use of his own vocals, Bill Graham's involvement in getting buy-in from the Morrison and Courson families and Ray, Paul Rothchild's contributions, comparisons of working with Oliver -vs- working with other directors, and much more.  Since the Q&A was being filmed for a later Pay Per View broadcast, I don't want to reveal too much detail.  Val did say that when the shooting wrapped, Paul Rothchild gave him a gift of one of his copies of Jim's "An American Prayer" poetry book.   Gordon introduced Paul Rothchild's son, who was seated a few rows behind us in the audience.  Gordon mentioned John's recent Tribaljazz release.  As the evening ended, John said he had brought a taste of Jim's poetry as he unwrapped his hand drum.  Val held the mike for John as he quoted some of Jim's poetry from 'An American Prayer'.   A few quick fans were lucky enough to catch Oliver, John and Kyle for an autograph before they disappeared from the auditorium.   It was apparent that Val was having a private after-party, as he had his own guest list at the check-in area.  Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top was one of the unmistakable arrivals.  Val seemed anxious to get on with his own party and mentioned it several times as the Q&A wound down.   My son and I ended up getting onto the same elevator as Val going to the parking garage.  To my son's chagrin and astonishment, I was totally clueless and didn't even notice Val in the elevator car!  Oh well ....

August 22, 2006     Bruce Gary R.I.P.

Sad news again in the world of music.   Drummer Bruce Gary passed away earlier today.  Bruce is perhaps best known as the drummer for The Knack, but Bruce and Robby were long-time collaborators.  You can find Bruce Gary credited on Robby's solo releases such as Robby Krieger & Friends; Versions; Robby Krieger (Cafe Records); Door Jams; No Habla, and Cinematix.  I may even have missed one or two!   www.brucegary.com   I once had the honor of being introduced to Bruce by a mutual friend following a Bob Dylan club show in Hollywood.  He seemed to know everyone, but was sweet and friendly enough to stand there and discuss his work with Robby with me.  He then blew me away when he told me that from there, he was heading directly to Robby's house to work on some music (it was already 11:30pm or later).   R.I.P. Bruce, and thank you for being such a big part of Robby history.  (thanks, Phil)

In more Robby news, he appears on another Pink Floyd tribute CD called "Return to the Dark Side of the Moon:  A Tribute to Pink Floyd."  It was released on May 16 on the Cleopatra label.  This is not to be confused with the other Pink Floyd tribute "The Wall" that came out last September, also from Cleopatra.  (thanks, George)

One more Robby story:  last year he participated in a charity golf event at the Jack Nicklaus Ruby Hill Golf Club in Pleasanton, California benefiting the Jeremy Brigham "Make A Difference Foundation."  There are several photos of him in the website gallery, including a few with him and his guitar ... it looks like he did a little entertaining with the other golf participants.  He also played in the event in 2004.  There is an unconfirmed rumor that Robby will be golfing in this year's event on June 26th.  For more info or to see the photos, go to:  http://www.makeadifferencefoundation.com/   (thanks, Marsha)

May 28, 2006    Robby guest performer last night

Robby Krieger was a guest performer last night at MacGowan Hall on the UCLA campus.  This was the last of 3 nights of Uli Jon Roth & Friends shows in the Ralph Freud Theater.  There was a long list of guest performers who I had never heard of ... but that was okay, my friend Beverly and I were there to see Robby.   The other musicians were very good and the rest of the audience in the small 600-seat theater certainly knew who they were and knew the songs.  Nevertheless, when Robby was announced and took the stage at 9:25, it was the first time all evening that a huge section of the audience rose to their feet to cheer.  Besides Uli Jon Roth and the musicians he was playing with, Robby was accompanied by Dave Waterbury of Spirit on bass, and a vocalist who Robby introduced as Evan Marshall.   Their 30-minute set started with 'Riders On The Storm,' then 'Roadhouse Blues' with an audience sing-along, and finally, 'L.A. Woman.'  The audience was on their feet again cheering Robby when his set ended.  We managed to catch him at the stage door during intermission for a conversation.  Since there was not going to be an all-star finale, Robby was preparing to leave and so did we!&nbs
