November 17,
2006 Ray on radio this a.m. <> ROTS tour rumor
Ray Manzarek did a phone-in interview this morning with Philadelphia
classic rock station WMGK 102.9 FM with DJ John DeBella. Ray talked
about the new book, "The Doors By The Doors" and told the story of
the performance at the Whisky when Jim did "The End" in its entirety
the first time. Ray said that the music held up through time because it
was complex, not just simple 'head-banger' music. When asked what his
favorite rumor about the band was, Ray replied the rumor that Jim is alive, of
course. (thanks,
Jes)
Riders On The Storm will tour South America, Asia and then the United
States, according to an unsubstantiated
story on-line today at: http://www.nationalledger.com/artman/publish/article_27269894.shtml
that says it is quoting Ray. Please, DO NOT EMAIL ME for more
information. Until additional tour dates are officially announced by
Riders On The Storm management on Ray's and Robby's sites and then on this
site, there is nothing official beyond the December and January tour dates
currently scheduled for Europe.

November 4,
2006 Ray offers song to Babs
Ray Manzarek extends an open invitation to Barbra Streisand to do a Doors song, according to a
blurb in today's New York Post: "Barbra Streisand is no Jim Morrison,
but she has an open invitation to do a Doors song. Ray Manzarek, the band's
legendary keyboardist, told Page Six: "If Barbra wanted to sing 'Riders on
the Storm,' or any of our songs, it would be wonderful. She's got a great
voice. We once tried to get Frank Sinatra to sing, 'You're Lost Little Girl,'
when he was going through his breakup with Mia Farrow, but it never
happened. It would have been fabulous." Manzarek - who at 67 has a hot new
CD, "Atonal Head," and a Civil War-era novel, "Snake Moon,"
just out - says age will never stop him, just like it hasn't curtailed other
rockers of his era. "The Rolling Stones, those guys are like marathon
runners," he says. "Mick Jagger's in such great
shape." http://www.nypost.com/seven/11042006/gossip/pagesix/doors_open_to_babs_pagesix_.htm

May 1,
2006 Ray quoted in Sunday L.A.
Times
Ray Manzarek was quoted
in this week's Sunday L. A. Times. In an interesting special section about L.A.,
there was a column called "The view from 30,000 feet" .. You're
flying into Los Angeles,
you look out the window, what do you see?" Ray was one of ten people
of note whose answers appear. Ray's quote was: "That
sun! About to extinguish itself in the azure. Low, golden rays
backlighting the City of Angels / City of Night.
Eventide at the end of the continent -- the end point of Western Civilization
-- and I'm diving in from 35,000 feet, coming hard from the Big Apple into the
Big Orange, and
it's all golden. And out of the corner of my eye, nose-pressed
against my window-seat glass, I can just barely glimpse the fluttering wings of
Spanish angels hovering over their city. And I am flying into the
sun. Home!" Ray Manzarek, Keyboardist for The
Doors
