John Densmore, Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison are one of the songwriting teams nominated for the 2008 Songwriters Awards.  The voting membership of the Songwriters Hall of Fame vote on the nominees.  The annual induction and awards ceremony will be held in New York City on June 19, 2008.  read full story

Today's L. A. Times Calendarlive section ran a feature about 'Secret L.A.', or the favorite hidden spots of many local celebrities. John Densmore was one of those who contributed, with this:  "Picolo, off the Venice boardwalk, is a family-run Italian place. Not cheap, so bring your wallet. It's the exact location of the former Gaslight Cafe, where Allen Ginsburg read poetry accompanied by bongo drums in the '50s.
