7, 2010 Santa Barbara screening
feedback
'When You're Strange' played to
a full or very near-full 680 capacity on Friday night
at the Lobero Theater in Santa Barbara, according to an attendee. John
Densmore was there, as already reported. John introduced Pam's mother and
the siblings, nieces and nephews of both Jim and Pam, as well as Bruce Botnick
and his wife. John told the story of when he and Robby were living up on
Wonderland Avenue when a depressed Jim dropped by; they told him to take a walk
to the top of the hill and he returned with the lyrics of 'People Are Strange',
which John recited. There was huge applause at the end and everyone stayed
and sat through the credits. (thanks, P & G)

wrote a 'First Person' piece
that appears in tomorrow's L.A. Times Calendar section. In an interesting
twist, John's story is from the perspective of being the fan; in this case, of
L.A. Philharmonic conductor Gustavo Dudamel. It is insightful into many of
John's influences. Titled The rocker and 'The Dude', you can read it at: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/arts/la-et-densmore1-2010jan01,0,7423002.story
