The Doors

CLASSIC ROCKERS RELIGHT THEIR FIRE WITH THE CULT'S IAN ASTBURY

The three surviving members of The Doors are planning to continue working together in 2003 following two September 2002 concerts -- their first full-set live performances together in nearly 30 years.

Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek and John Densmore are discussing a European tour for next summer, possibly to be followed by an extensive American outing and the recording of a new studio album.

As with the September dates, guitarist Krieger and keyboardist Manzarek will perform the entire show, with Police drummer Stewart Copeland occasionally filling in for drummer Densmore, who suffers from tendonitis*.   The Cult's Ian Astbury will again tackle the unenviable job of singing Jim Morrison's lines, and will be joined at times by a special guest or two.

"They played together for a VH-1 Storytellers last year and with Eddie Vedder at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 1993, but these are their first full concerts together since September 2, 1972," says biographer and manager Danny Sugerman.   "Because of that they want to proceed slowly and make sure that everything feels great before moving on.   but they all agreed that the magic was still there from the minute they got together in the studio."
